HPM managed the transformation of a 750 sqm heritage building that was previously used as a restaurant on the ground floor with an under-utilised function room upstairs. Having formerly been a nightclub, the building featured a large internal void where customers could look down from the second floor to the dancefloor below.
The project required a change of use, involving the void being filled to convert the second floor into high-end architectural apartments. We oversaw this process from concept through to construction, which included reconfiguring the downstairs restaurant and adding a courtyard. Working in collaboration with Heritage New Zealand, we ensured that the design complemented the building’s original facade while meeting contemporary requirements.
In November 2020, Parker’s Apartments were awarded the Art Deco Trust Heritage Building Adaptive Re-use Award, recognising the significant efforts required to breathe new life into Napier’s heritage buildings.
