HPM were engaged by the Museum Trust Joint Working Group, comprising Hastings District Council and Napier City Council, to complete a feasibility study into potential locations within the Hawkes Bay region for a regional research, archives, and storage facility to house the Hawkes Bay Museum Trust’s regional collection. The project involved engaging a large number of stakeholders through interviews to gather input and inform the study. Our final report included a comprehensive stocktake of the entire collection, along with eight proposed options throughout Hawkes Bay that could serve as suitable locations for a new facility, based on the requirements provided. These options ranged from lease, purchase, renovation, and new-build solutions.
Following the feasibility study, we were further engaged to undertake a Due Diligence report on the proposed purchase of one of the existing buildings identified in the initial study. This involved assessing how the building could be extensively renovated to meet museum requirements and become fit for purpose, ensuring that the regional collection could be appropriately housed and preserved.
