The Hastings Street Retail Fit Out and Strengthening project was a significant undertaking in the art deco quarter of Napier City. HPM played a crucial role in managing the design and overseeing the construction phases, which included demolition, alteration, strengthening, and new fit-out. As a result of these efforts, the building achieved 70% NBS (New Building Standard) once strengthened.
Given the building’s location in the art deco quarter, obtaining Resource Consent was essential, and HPM was actively involved in this process. The project’s location in a busy part of town also necessitated careful consideration of public safety throughout the construction period. HPM’s early contractor engagement was instrumental in securing successful pricing and procurement of materials, especially during the industry supply constraints experienced during and after Covid-19.
