This project involved the redevelopment of a retail building located in the Art Deco quarter of Napier City. We managed the design through to construction, covering demolition, alteration, seismic strengthening, and the new fit-out. Following the strengthening works, the building achieved 70% NBS. As the site formed part of Napier’s Art Deco quarter, a Resource Consent was required, and we were actively involved in managing this process. HPM managed the transformation of a 750 sqm heritage building that was previously used as a restaurant on the ground floor with an under-utilised function room upstairs. Having formerly been a nightclub, the building featured a large internal void where customers could look down from the second floor to the dancefloor below. The project required a change of use, involving the void being filled to convert the second floor into high-end architectural apartments.
